PARKVIEW HAS SERVED OVER

1000 RESIDENTS

October 2006 brought Parkview Manor it’s 1000th resident.  Over the past 40 years Parkview Manor has served 1000 customers and several thousand family members.

Parkview Manor opened in January of 1966 with room for 19 people.  They filled up very quickly and by that summer it was already decided to add on a north wing with 19 more beds.

The first staff members were Lois Stephan, nurse, Lillian Eiffler, Bonnie Willer, Naomi DeBerg, aides and Gladys Stein as cook with Ferne Robertson as the administrator.  Other early aides included Jadean Tripp, Inez Buhman and Doris Casey.  Erma Lindaman and Lois Knaack were also cooks very early on.  In those days the aides also did the laundry, which was located in the basement.  At the beginning, all the activities were planned and implemented by volunteers.

The west wing was added in 1977 to bring the total up to 30 rooms, along with the south lounge.

The kitchen went through a major update and remodeling, completed with a new larger pantry, walk in cooler and freezer space, a separate washing area and a large overall workspace.  This was finished in the year 2000.

Now we are busy updating more of the facility.  The lobby is getting a new look.  We are working on the South Lounge and making it into an Activity Room for the residents to have a place to go to spend time outside of their rooms.  We have replaced all the windows in the building to provide for a better overall comfort to the facility.  This summer we also put in an asphalt parking lot which really improves the exterior to our building.  One of the things we are most proud of is the development of a comfort room which allows families to have privacy when they need it most.
